Life Lately: On changes, small wins, and celebrations
It’s my birthday month. Hooray! And time for another long overdue post. Now what have I been up to?
Aside from figure skating, I had my back tattoo finally covered up! This tattoo was done during a really sad, and traumatic experience in my life and I just want it erased. Sometimes part of moving on, is taking back what’s yours and not having remnants of that memory.

Miss Janessa Palaming has done a wonderful, wonderful job in doing just that. My previous back tattoo consists of ugly patches of pink and blue, with tramp stamps of God knows what symbols. Now it has been replaced with a structured galaxy, and a symbol of new life.

Nice right?

Now in terms of my figure skating journey, I am still working on my Beta elements which consists of backward strokes, t-stops, and backward crossovers. So far so good, but we had to give it a temporary halt because I’m joining a skating competition!
It’s in level 2, and the program I’m working in is technical 2 (alpha) with the song The Climb by Miley Cyrus. I really wanted a different song, Looking through the ice of love from Ice Castles. But I think I think I’ll use that one when I really get better and can do more complex elements.
Level 2 consists of forward stroking, crossovers, and a snow plough stop. I think, no, I know, I can do them at ease, as long as I’m calm and confident. I’m still trying to cut my caffeine addiction so send prayers I finally stop. Today is the last day I’m drinking coffee and milk tea (for the nth time)
A blend of chamomile tea and honey sure does help with my nerves, so I always bring a bottle with me to the rink.
Of course my life wouldn’t be complete without the loves. Geof, Ryan, and Konani. Amidst my Bipolar-1, I take my medication regularly so I can keep my moods and impulses in check. I want to be the best human I can be with to my loved ones, and never harm or hurt them.
Ryan has been so far successful in his podcast and comedy endeavors with KoolPals. While Geof is acing his school, consistently being part of top 10 in class. Wooohoo!
This year, we have a couple of travels planned and hope everything goes smoothly.
Today also marks the start of my birthday month. I won’t reveal the exact day or year though. Even though I am aging, I do try to keep up with my skincare and health. I regularly use sunsreen, and still try my best to lift weights at the gym at least once a week, despite my busy figure skating schedule.
I really don’t know how long I’ll be keeping this up (ice skating), because it is an expensive sport. Maybe I won’t push too hard. I will just enjoy the process, and take it slow. It’s the climb.
