Best Witch Hazel Brand: Thayers or Dickinsons?

I remember the first time I’ve heard of witch hazel toners. It was highschool on the internet forum, FemaleNetworkIf you remember that website, congratulations we’re the same generation! Two of the most popular and available witch hazel toners in the market are Dickinson’s Witch Hazel and Thayers Witch Hazel Rose Petal. I have used both, and recently bought both for this comparison. Who wins? Let’s find out!

You can buy both at Healthy Options

Benefits of Witch Hazel

Witch hazel in skincare products offers a number of beneficial properties beyond soothing skin. As a toner, it is a mild astringent that feels cooling and refreshing. Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antiseptic, and anti-fungal. This range of benefits makes it a useful ingredient in serums and moisturizers. It is also widely available as a toner by itself.

Both are in plastic bottles. Dickinson’s has 237ml while Thayers has 355ml. There’s no distinguishing factor in their packaging except for the cap. Thayers cap is a bit loose even when closed. It doesn’t have that snap to it making it prone to spillage during travel.

Winner: Dickinson’s

Dickinson’s smells like pure witch hazel. A bit on the pungent side with a hint of alcohol. Thayers has a light fragrance of rose petals. Now this highly depends on personal preference. In my opinion rose petal smells amazing! If you’re particular with the scent, Thayers also has an unfragranced version.

Winner: Thayers

Dickinsons – 399 Thayers – 650php

Winner: Dickinsons

The ingredients of Dickinson’s is pretty basic. Distilled Witch Hazel and Alcohol (14%). Thayers’ have other beneficial and nourishing ingredients like; Aloe, Glycerin, Rose, and Grapefruit. I noticed that the witch hazel on Thayers’ is listed third, making it not the primary ingredient of the toner. But despite being pure, Dickinson’s have alcohol content that can cause skin to dry and get irritated. You don’t need 100% witch hazel on your face.

Winner: Thayers

Overall Winner:

It’s a close battle! But I have to crown Thayers Witch Hazel Rose Petal Toner the overall winner in this witch hazel battle. Because it’s alcohol-free, smells nice, and has added nourishing goodness to it. I hope you enjoyed this post. If you think otherwise, let me know why in the comments section below 🙂

OmGOSH, totally love LOVE Thayer’s! Rose Petal is amazing & the fragrance is all natural! I use BOTH the Toner & Spray Facial Mist. It’s fab to grab, be kissed by the mist, & let the Rose add the Glow. I mist several times during day. And the scent makes you smile. I must say, Thayer’s won me over! (However, I do still keep a bottle bottle of Dickinson’s, for various astringent purposes & just because). But Thayer’s has my face!!! Also, I could swear there’s a Thayer’s citrus Lemon blend. I’ll def buy Lemon too,if available! And, Thayer’s history, from its beginnings to now, is a very impressive story, of family dedication to continue honest purity & true commitment, growing & gathering natures best, grown & harvested from their own land! Trusting a businesses quality control, is of the utmost importance! Thayer’s swears by this. I love their product & dedication to purity farming. Yum for real Roses!!
