I barely wear any makeup now. Since the pandemic started last March and everyone is still on stricter lockdowns, I just haven’t found the reason to put on a full face, even on Zoom meetings. It could be just me. Honestly, I envy those who still find inspiration wearing full layers of eyeshadow, blush, contour, and the works. I hope one of these days I’ll feel motivated enough to wear maybe half of what they put on.
But for now, a translucent powder, a tinted lip balm, and curling my lashes for the cam will have to do. Plus wearing my Aviche Wearable Air Purifier if I have to go out.
Speaking of pressed powder, I’m super loving Shiseido Baby Pressed Powder (Medicated) right now. Beauty influencers are raving about this on their blogs, youtube channels, and social media since forever. I mean, what’s to love? It’s light, works for sensitive skin, and does the job in keeping face matte, but not flat. But the reason I’m reviewing this, even if there are hundreds available already, online. Is that I discovered another purpose for it.
A layer of protection to prevent mask-ne!

How to Use
You can use the puff included or a brush of your choice. I prefer using a soft fluffy brush that I got from Kind Cosmetics because it provides a lighter, more even finish.
The puff is suitable if you’re gonna apply powder on your body. It reminds me of the puff you use on babies when you change their diapers hehe
It comes in a sturdy plastic packaging that’s built to last for a drop or two. Please don’t drop yours in purpose.
Texture-wise, it’s not as smooth as you would expect. It’s a bit grainy to the touch, but you won’t feel it once applied on your face.
The finish is matte and 100% translucent. It won’t make you look ghastly white or ruin your whatever makeup you have on. So this is perfect as a setting powder, especially if you have sensitive skin.
It has a pleasing, barely-there milky powder scent that I can’t help but enjoy when I sniff the compact.
As you can see on my before & after photo, it doesn’t make any difference except mattify skin + blur pores a bit. I love using this on top of my sunscreen because it reduces the stickiness of the latter.
It also controls oil for a good 4-5 hours!
Now on preventing mask-ne with this powder…
I put on a thin layer of Shiseido Medicated Baby Powder before I wear my medical-grade facemask. To make sure I don’t get acne from wearing the mask too long. This really helps. Maybe because it creates a barrier between the mask and our skin? I noticed the difference before when I didn’t wear any makeup at all, just sunscreen + the mask = acne.
For less than 300php, this pressed powder would last a LONG time even with daily use. It’s super sulit! I would definitely re-purchase and recommend.
Till next time!
